Weight Loss Tips for Your New Years Resolution
Weight Loss Tips for Your New Years Resolution
I see it happen every year. The holidays come around and we have a tendency to overeat and gain weight. Then for the new year, the most common resolution is to lose the weight we gained over the holidays. Now wouldn’t it just be easier to not overdo it over the holidays? LOL! Well, if one of your New Years resolutions is to lose weight, here are a few weight loss tips:
1. Make sure you set an attainable goal
Make sure you set an attainable goal. If you were already carrying some extra weight going into the holidays and then proceeded to gain an extra 10 to 15 pounds from holiday overeating, don’t make your New Years resolution to lose 30 pounds in the next month. Instead, aim for smaller weight loss goals. Small amounts of weight loss each week add up to big weight loss over time.
2. Set up a game plan in order to reach that goal
Set up a game plan in order to reach that goal. The reason why most New Years resolutions are broken is because we don’t have a plan. It’s easy to say I want to lose 20 or 30 pounds, but how do you plan to do it. Don’t just say I want to lose 3 pounds this week. Instead, say I plan to walk on the treadmill every day this week after work in order to lose those 3 pounds.
3. Stick with it
Stick with it. Experts say it takes 21 days for a new activity to become a habit and 6 months for it to become part of your personality. It doesn’t happen overnight, so stick with your program and be consistent.
